Fixing "Unknown host"

You or one of your players might be getting Unknown host when trying to connect to your server.

This error happens because the computer asks your ISP (Internet Service Provider) what the IP is, and your ISP replies that it is unknown.

The fix

You need to update your computer’s DNS server. See Changing DNS for a complete guide.

Note

Sometimes this issue is caused by players typing the server address wrong. To rule out any typos, copy the server address directly by clicking on it inside the SquidServers App.

The address should look something like example.gl.tun.ply.gg. Make sure there are no extra spaces, and that you are using the correct address shown in the app.
