SquidServers Support Center

Self-host your own server in minutes.

SquidServers is a free desktop app for self-hosting Minecraft. It is not a managed hosting company. The server runs locally on your PC, and friends connect through a tunnel.

Is SquidServers 24/7?

No. SquidServers is not a hosting service, it is a desktop application. This means your server is only online when your computer is turned on and running SquidServers.

How many players can join my server?

There is no hard limit. You can have as many players as your computer and upload speed can handle. You may update the Max Players count in your server’s settings.

Do my friends need to install SquidServers?

No. Only the person hosting the server needs to install SquidServers. Your friends can join using the server address provided in the app (a tun.ply.gg link).

Is SquidServers free?

Yes. SquidServers is completely free to use. Playit.gg premium features (extra tunnels, custom domains) are optional and billed by Playit, not by SquidServers.

Can I run my server while my PC is off?

No. SquidServers is a self-hosted solution. Your computer acts as the server, so it must remain powered on, connected to the internet, and running SquidServers for the server to stay online.
